Top 10 global media owners
Google parent Alphabet has become the largest media owner in the world. The tech giant attracted $79.4 billion in ad revenue in 2016, three times more than the second-largest – Facebook – which pulled in $26.9 billion, according to Zenith's Top 30 Global Media Owners.
Three Chinese media companies, Baidu, at fourth, Tencent at 14th, and China Central Television, at 20th, entered the top 30 ranking.
Zenith, a return-on-investment agency, has been publishing the list since 2007. The ranking this year is based only on media owners' advertising revenue and excludes earnings from all other sources.
