The China Import and Export Fair announced a new award aimed at encouraging Chinese manufacturers to focus on quality designs of products Sunday.

According to the made-in-China.com, out of 2,600 contestants, only 31 Chinese manufacturers were awarded for their distinguished design and superior quality.

"For Chinese manufacturers, design and quality are of great importance of expansion to overseas markets," said Xu Jianfeng, chairman of the made-in-China.com.

After Sunday's award ceremony in Guangzhou, the capital of Guangdong province, a number of global buyers from 10 countries conducted face-to-face business talks with the awarded companies.

Xu said "we are making efforts to help global buyers to find the beauty of the made-in-China products, which are highly featured by design and quality.".

According to Xu, the award helps a great number of Chinese manufacturers secure more overseas orders since its launch in 2011.
