Russia's Izhorskiye Zavody, a subsidiary of OMZ Group, said in a statement that it has completed the pressure testing for the Russian-designed VVER-1000 reactor vessel of the third unit of the Tianwan nuclear power plant in China's Jiangsu province.
The test conducted in Russia has proved that the vessel is able to withstand an internal pressure of 24.5 MPA (Megapascal), according to the company.
After the test, the Russian company will put on a trial for the assembly of the reactor internals and the vessel head.
OMZ said that this is "one of the final stages in the manufacturing process of the reactor vessel prior to shipment to the customer."
The units three and four of Tianwan nuclear power plant, which are under construction, are expected for commercialization in 2017 and 2018.
Izhorskiye Zavody was awarded a contract in 2010 for the manufacturing of the reactor vessels for Tianwan units 3 and 4. The company previously supplied the vessels used in the first two units there.
