Chinese lighting company NVC Lighting has inked a deal with the International Swimming Federation to sponsor the Diving World Series from 2014-2017.

The four-year sponsorship agreement with the Aquatics world governing body, Fédération Internationale de Natation (FINA) was signed in Barcelona, Spain on Saturday.

FINA President Julio Maglione said at the signing ceremony that he was very satisfied at the agreement, which he considers to be especially appropriate given that Chinese divers currently dominate the sport.

"The FINA Diving World Series is one of our main events and China is one of the top nations in this discipline. The future is bright with NVC and it is a big honor for us," he said.

“Sportsmen and women consistently exhibit qualities of perseverance, integrity and a passion for continuous improvement. These are values that coincide closely with the values of NVC,” said President of NVC Wu Changjiang.

NVC was the official lighting supplier to the 2008 Beijing Olympics and the 2010 Guangzhou Asian Games.

"We have developed quickly in recent years and our brand is well known and respected and we aim to work alongside FINA to promote or long term goals," Wu added.

Since NVC Lighting was floated on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange three years ago, the company has embarked on a process of international expansion.

Analysts noted that the sponsorship of the Diving World Series is a part of this strategy, a beacon bringing the name of NVC Lighting to a wider world.

The FINA/NVC Diving World Series will consist of six meetings in cities such as Beijing, Dubai, Edinburgh, Moscow and Guadalajara and includes events such as 3 meter springboard, 10 meter platform and synchronized events, with participants invited on the basis of their world ranking.

As the largest lighting manufacturer in China, NVC employs over 10,000 staff across 6 Chinese sites.

The company is expanding rapidly in Europe, Asia, Africa and Latin America. It also has a subsidiary in the UK, and distributors in more than 40 countries. NVC’s product range includes lighting for almost all applications, including lighting for residential, commercial, industrial, sports and exterior projects.

FINA is the world governing body for the six aquatic disciplines of swimming, diving, water polo, synchronized swimming, open water swimming, and high diving.
