China to further promote energy sustainability: official

VIENNA - China will continue to promote sustainable energy use and green low-carbon development, Liu Lihua, Vice Minister of Industry and Information Technology of China said here in Vienna.
Addressing the third Vienna Energy Forum (VEF), Liu said the Chinese government attaches great importance to energy resources and environmental issues, and considering resource conservation and environment protection as a basic national policy.
He admitted that China still faces major challenges in this respect, but added that the Chinese government has taken measures to enhance energy efficiency, develop green and low-carbon industries, and improve environmental protection.
More than 1,500 people, including energy experts and representatives of nations and non-governmental organizations, took part in the forum will run till May 30.
