In a speech delivered at a luncheon with business and financial leaders, Li said he will jointly make the announcement with Swiss President Ueli Maurer.
The China-Switzerland FTA would have special significance beyond the two countries, as it will be the first one to be signed between China and a country in Europe, Li noted.
The FTA would mark a milestone in China-Switzerland relations, Li said.
