More than 70 percent of cell phones sold in China last month were made by domestic manufacturers, said an industry research company on Friday.
In April, a total of 27.9 million cell phones were sold in China, according to Sino Market Research.
Smartphone makers, including Lenovo, ZTE Corp, Huawei Technologies and Yulong Computer Telecommunication Scientific, are vying to be the leading phone manufacturer.
Yulong, maker of Coolpad smartphones, was the biggest cell phone manufacturer in April by sales, said Sino Market Research. The Shenzhen-based company took 11.6 percent of the smartphones sold in April.
Lenovo, the world's second largest personal computer maker, took 11.2 percent of the market share.
