Chinese President Xi Jinping presented the Queen Elizabeth II and her husband Prince Philip two music albums of his wife and famous singer Peng Liyuan after a private lunch at Buckingham Palace given by the Queen in honor of Xi's visit to the UK.
In exchange, besides a silver-framed photo of Her Majesty and Prince Philip, a routine present for the visiting leaders to the UK, the Queen gifted a William Shakespeare's collection of sonnets to Shakespeare-fan President Xi, who quoted Shakespeare in his address to Members of the Houses of Parliament in the Royal Gallery.
The Shakespeare's collection is placed in a gilded leather box specially made by bookbinders in Windsor Castle.
As for Peng, accompanying her husband's first visit to the UK, the Queen presented her a pair of candlesticks made by the royal porcelain manufacturer Royal Crown Derby, only one porcelain manufacturer titling "Royal" and "Crown".
President Xi's gift package to the Queen also included a 1.18-meter-long embroidery, a big ceramic plate, a piece of wood carving and a stamp album.
