WASHINGTON - Fifteen people were injured when a Dynamic Airways passenger plane caught fire Thursday at an airport in the US state of Florida, authorities said.

One of the victims suffered burns which are not life-threatening, while the others had mainly bruises, bumps and sprains during the accident at the Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood International Airport, a Broward County Fire Department spokesman was quoted by local media as saying.

The Boeing 767 passenger jet, with 110 passengers onboard, appeared to have been taxiing for departure when its left engine caught fire, reported the local TV station WSVN-TV.

The passengers and crew members were evacuated from the plane after it caught fire on the tarmac, and all the injured were sent to a local hospital for treatment.

Meanwhile, a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) official was quoted as saying that the pilot of the plane reported fuel leak before the fire started. A four-member FAA team has been sent to Fort Lauderdale to investigate the accident.

Founded in 2010, Dynamic Airways is a small private-owned airline that offers service from airports in New York, Guyana, Florida, Venezuela, Hong Kong and Palau.
