American robbed, killed on Xmas eve in Philippines

MANILA - A 61-year old American national was killed after he was robbed by unidentified suspects on Christmas eve in northern Philippines, police said Sunday.

Philippine National Police spokesman Chief Superintendent Agrimero Cruz Jr identified the victim as James Thomas Kakara, who was robbed in his residence at Kaybagal South village, Tagaytay City in Cavite province.

The robbers allegedly carted away a black shoulder bag containing around 206,000 pesos ($4,716), a mobile phone and a laptop computer, Cruz said, adding an investigation into the incident was ongoing.
