With higher tuition fees and tighter immigration policies for international students , the Universities UK President Steve Smith sat down with China Daily last week and explained "why study in the UK." Smith was on a lecture tour at a couple of Chinese universities in Beijing.

Two weeks ago, Smith also joined the UK Prime Minister David Cameron in Beijing as part of the UK government mission to China.

Universities UK (UUK) is the representative body for the United Kingdom's universities and currently has 133 members, according to the organization.
