Summer escape: Jigong Mountain Nature Reserve

Located in Xinyang county, Henan province, the Jigong Mountain Nature Reserve is a sanctuary for subtropical forest vegetation and rare wild animals and plants. Covering about 3,000 hectares, the Reserve has 1,000 species of tall trees such as Huangshan and masson pine, oak, white oak, magnolia, northern poplar, willow and elm. It also has 300 species of medicinal plants, 210 different birds and more than 100 different mammals. Established in 1982, Jigong Mountain earned the name "Park in the Clouds," which draws many tourists who come here to escape the summer heat every year. [Photo/icpress]
