DPRK media says DPRK performs well in world tournaments

PYONGYANG -- KCNA, the official news agency of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), on Monday issued an article saying that the DPRK players got good results in the international tournaments in the past year.

According to the KCNA, the DPRK men's football teams won the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Challenger Cup Tournament, the Asian U-16 Football Championship, the 4-nation Soccer Tournament in Qatar and the International Tournament for the Vietnam Football Association Cup.

The DPRK women's team also did a good job in the AFC Women's Asian Cup to earn a ticket for the 2011 Women's World Cup, said the report.

Many gold medals were won in shooting, weightlifting, boxing, judo and other international tournaments, the report added.

In the 50th World Shooting Championship of the International Shooting Sports Federation, the World Weightlifting Championship, the World Women's Boxing Championship, the 5th Asian Women's Boxing Championship and the World Cup Women's Judo Tournament, the DPRK players all won trophies.

In the 16th Asian Games, the 14th International Boxing Masters Championship, the First Youth Olympic Games, the Asian Junior Judo Championship, the 12th Asian Junior Weightlifting Championship, the International Free Flying Aero Model Contest for Mongolian Cup and other international tournaments, the DPRK players also got good results.
