BEIJING - The 2011 Italian Super Cup final will be held in Beijing on Aug 6, and the nation will also hold two more Super Cup finals between 2012-2014, the event's organizer said on Wednesday.

The National Stadium, better known as the Bird's Nest, which held the Super Cup final in 2009, when Lazio defeated Inter Milan 2-1, is the first-choice venue .

However, that could change due to concerns over the quality of the pitch, said the Cup's organizing committee. After a match between visiting Barcelona and local side Beijing Guo'an on Aug 8, coach Pep Guardiola of the Spanish side complained about the site's condition.

This year's Super Cup, which was between Champions League and Serie A winner Inter Milan and domestic league runner-up Roma, was scheduled to be played at the Bird's Nest for the second consecutive year.

However, Inter Milan said its players were unable to travel so far as they were preparing for the UEFA Super Cup, and the match in Beijing was cancelled.

To avoid a similar situation, the Beijing Football Association and Beijing Heliwansheng International Sports Co Ltd said they had confirmed arrangements with the Italian league's governing body over next year's match time and the host city.

Started in 1988, the Italian Super Cup is held annually between the champion of Serie A and the winner of the Italian Cup. It was first held outside Italy when it went to Washington in 1993. It was then held in Libya and then the United States again before coming to Beijing last year.
