Comment on "Chinese hospitals scare Indians" (China Daily, June 1)

Instead of shifting high medical cost to the welfare system, the Chinese government should hold an inquest into the reasons behind the high cost. If not, with the unlimited money from the social insurance system, medical charges will continue to rise unchecked. The consequence is an extremely expensive and inefficient healthcare system like the West.

We need to understand the whole prospective (now and future) before a decision is made on welfare issues. It is because once a benefit is granted, it is difficult to take it back from the hands of the public.
