One killed, two injured in helicopter crash in Russia

MOSCOW -- One person died and at least two others were injured when a helicopter crashed Thursday in the Leningrad region of Russian, the investigation Committee said.

The light commercial AS-35 helicopter, owned by a private airline company, crashed at a lake in the Priozyorsky district of the Leningrad region, Interfax news agency reported.

Currently, the helicopter, en route from the Valaam island to St.Petersburg, is left on the lake ice, while the victims have been hospitalized in St. Petersburg.

Early reports said there were six people on board.

Investigators have traveled to the scene, the committee said.
