ROME -- A 74-year-old pensioner shot two neighbors and his wife dead, and finally turned the gun on himself in northern Italian city Genoa on Sunday, local media reported.

According to ANSA news agency, Carlo Trabona, a retired bricklayer, shot two neighbors, who were brothers, in a local bar, and then went back home to kill his wife.

After police surrounded the apartment, Trabona took his own life.

Jealousy combined with mental problems may have caused the shooting spree, according to prosecutors in charge of investigations.

Trabona, who suffered from psychiatric problems in the past, suspected that his 72-year-old wife had affairs with one of the neighbors.
