Scarlett Johansson invited to Marine Corps Ball

Scarlett Johansson was invited to the Marine Corps Ball by a bold serviceman.

The 'Iron-Man 2' actress was invited in a video message sent to her by Sergeant Dustin L. Williams who asked her to accompany him to the event in Albany, Georgia, on November 10.

However, because of "prior commitments" she sent can't make the date, but sent her apologies along with a case of champagne to cheeky Dustin.

She said: "I feel incredibly honoured to have been invited to the Marine Corps Ball by Sgt. Dustin L. Williams. Not only does Sgt. Williams deserve recognition for his bravery, selflessness and dedication to the United States and its people, but he also displays a cheeky talent for filmmaking.

"Sgt. Williams unfortunately, due to prior commitments, I will not be able to attend the ball with you this year but I am sending you a case of Moet and Chandon with gratitude. In my absence, I raise a glass to you and all the men and women of the US Marine Corps, past and present, in thanks for your continued commitment to preserving the safety of our nation."

Scarlett is not the only celebrity to receive an invite to a Marine Corps Ball.

Mila Kunis will accompany Sgt. Scott Moore to an event in Greenville, North Carolina, on November 18, while her 'Friends With Benefits' co-star Justin Timberlake has been asked to attend the gala in Washington D.C. on November 12 with Corporal Kelsey De Santis.
