China 8, an art event to introduce Chinese contemporary art in Germany, is drawing crowds of visitors to the nine museum venues in the Rhine-Ruhr metropolitan region. The View of China exhibition at NRW-Forum Dusseldorf reviews the depth and width of Chinese art over the past three decades.
The show teams up dozens of leading artists whose groundbreaking explorations have extended the boundaries of Chinese contemporary art. Shen Fan is displaying seven installations that combine traditional ink art and lights. Zhang Huan is presenting two of his famous ash paintings that he drew with ashes of incense sticks collected from Buddhist temples.
View of China runs until Aug 30.
