The Chinese pavilion opened to visitors at the 14th International Architecture Exhibition of Venice Biennale on June 5, displaying the evolution of Chinese architecture over the past century.

The exhibition, titled Mountains beyond Mountains, presents examples of how Chinese architecture has modernized in terms of components, structure and layout, against a global background.

Three Chinese architecture firms applied recyclable materials to construct a Chinese courtyard inside an Oil Depot and Virgin Garden, providing a relaxing atmosphere in which visitors can rest.

The exhibition runs until Nov 23.
