Dong Bingfeng, an independent curator and producer based in Beijing, has been presented with the 2013 Chinese Contemporary Art Award that recognizes art critics. The award of 80,000 yuan ($13,100) will allow Dong to turn his proposed "Cinema of Exhibition: Film in Chinese Contemporary Art" into a book. The CCAA was set up in 1997 by Swiss collector Uli Sigg, a leading collector of Chinese contemporary art. The award for an art critic was added last year to encourage independent critics in China where most art critics are paid to write for artists.
