BEIJING - The top anti-graft body announced on Tuesday that the deputy head of the Chinese mainland's Taiwan affairs authority has been placed under investigation.

Gong Qinggai, deputy head of the Taiwan Work Office of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, is suspected of serious disciplinary violations, said the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection in a statement.

Gong, born in 1958, has been on the current post for more than two years, according to a resume published on the CCDI official website.
