Man dies in shootout with police at Taiwan airport

TAIPEI - A man was shot dead in a shootout with police near Taichung Airport in central Taiwan on Monday.
The man, surnamed Zhang, was riding a motorbike to the airport, carrying his daughter, but was stopped by the police as the child was not wearing a helmet.
During questioning, the man argued with the police, seized a gun and opened fire.
Twenty-six shots were fired in the incident. Zhang was hit four times and died in hospital.
Two other people were injured in the shootout, including a police constable and an unrelated female, but their injuries are not life-threatening.
