6.7-magnitude quake rocks Taiwan

A 6.7-magnitude earthquake jolted Nantou county, Taiwan at 1:43 pm Sunday, according to the China Earthquake Networks Center.

The center said the depth of the epicenter was 9 km and the quake was also felt across the strait in Fujian province.

A resident surnamed Lin who lives on the 11th floor of a building in downtown Fuzhou, capital city of Fujian province, said he felt the bed and desks sway for several seconds.

Nantou is about 155 miles south of Taipei. A Taiwan TV station reported a male mountain climber was killed after being hit by falling rocks in Nantou.
