A Beijing court will hear evidence regarding the cost of looking after dogs that were rescued from a truck on the Beijing-Harbin highway in 2011.

On April 15, 2011, animal rights volunteers saved more than 500 dogs which were being transferred to slaughterhouses. The dogs were taken to clinics.

Tencent, one of China's leading Internet companies, claimed online that they would pay for the upkeep of the dogs.

Ten clinics are taking the China Small Animal Protection Association and Tencent to court seeking upkeep costs of 64,326 yuan ($10,500).
