Images of old soldiers have been awarded for their excellence at the 8th China International Press Photo Contest on March 25, 2012. The awards featured some old Red Army or People's Liberation Army (PLA) soldiers from Northwest China's Shaanxi province, who joined many battles for the Communist Party of China from 1920s to 1950s. They are all now live at the Bayi Home for the elderly in Yan'an, Shaanxi.
Wang Shenggui, born1925, Ansai town, joined the Northwest Field Army, PLA's main force during War of Liberation (1946-1949) in 1947. He retired from the army in 1951 due to injuries. [Photo/CFP] |
