Girl, 4, has toes cut off to ease foot problems

A 4-year-old girl who has congenital "giant toe" syndrome has to wear shoes large enough to fit an adult man.

Jia Tong has been taken to hospitals in her hometown of Zaozhuang, Shandong province, as well as in Beijing and Shanghai, yet her parents say no one was able to treat her.

However, doctors at a clinic in Jinan, the provincial capital, have now operated on her, removing two of her toes on Sept 1. She will receive further treatment in the following months.
