An Italian tourist who visited Nanjing, capital of Jiangsu province, helped an old man who collapsed and stopped breathing in a scenic spot on Aug 30.

According to a resident surnamed Lu who saw the event, the old man collapsed on the road just as a tour bus carrying a group of Italian tourists stopped nearby.

One of the Italian tourists came to the aid of the old man and gave him artificial respiration. The interpreter accompanying the Italians said the man was a doctor with good knowledge of first aid.

Thanks to the tourist's emergency treatment, the old man recovered consciousness some ten minutes later. The Italian doctor left without leaving his name after helping the old man into an ambulance.
