On May 13, police in Hong Kong arrested a city resident who shot a stray cat with a M16 air gun.

The suspect, surnamed Fang, 38, was a clerk working in a gift shop. On May 5 he took a gun out after work and shot at a stray cat eight times.

Police, after receiving a report of the shooting, started an investigation and caught Fang in the shop at about 8 pm. They also found the gun Fang had used to shoot the cat.

The cat was seriously injured. A veterinarian said the cat would be disabled if it survived.
