Boys make their own seesaw using a bamboo stick and hollow bricks, in front of their temporary classroom during recess in Jiudu village, South China's Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, April 18, 2011. The school is located deep in the mountains of Jiudu village in Duan Yao autonomous county, where 19 children from within a 10-kilometer area study with one teacher. Most of them don't have lunch because it would take hours for them to go back home. They have been studying in a rented house for four years. The previous classrooms were demolished after 57 years' service. The rented classroom has nothing for the students, so they have to bring some tables from home, and even a coffin is being used as a bench. The county's education authority plans to build a new school building by May. [Photo/CFP] |
