Beijing - The Delegation of the European Union to China officially launches its "EU in China" blogs and microblogs Tuesday in Beijing.

"Blogs and microblogs are a promising way to reach to different types of people whom we don't meet in our daily work," says Markus Ederer, Ambassador of the EU Delegation to China.

The EU Delegation blogs on four major Chinese portals: Sina, Tencent, Tom and Sohu. Most topics will be on European life styles such as films and travel. "Hopefully the interactive-ness of blogging will help Chinese to understand why we are the way we are," adds Markus Ederer.

William Fingleton, Press Officer with the EU Delegation says blogging the EU in China was his brainchild. "This is perhaps the best way to reach out to young people who spend a lot of time indoors and in front of their computers."

The delegation chose food as their first blogging theme, echoing the visit of EU agricultural commission and the introduction of its geographic identification system to China. Special guests to the ceremony include Chinese food bloggers such as Great Chef Bai Du and Transparent Purple, who brought their self-made favorite European dishes to treat the audience.
