The Communist Party of China and the Communist Party of Vietnam should enhance exchanges on the experiences of governance and jointly improve the governance capacity, President Xi Jinping told a senior Vietnamese official on Thursday.
Xi made the remarks while meeting with visiting Dinh The Huynh, the Executive Secretary of Secretariat of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, one of the country's five key leaders.
Mentioning that the two parties have similar missions and tasks, Xi said that enhancing high-level party-to-party communications could deepen and expand the strategic consensus reached by the two sides.
The current China-Vietnam ties are developing in positive direction with improvements made in all areas, Xi said, adding that the two countries should cherish the friendship and make more pragmatic cooperation to benefit the people.
Dinh said that it's the Vietnam's long-term policy and top strategic priority to strengthen Vietnam-China traditional friendship.
Vietnam would like to enhance political trust and improve cooperative mechanism with China, he said.
