Artists highlight China-Britain ties
The Chinese Contemporary Art Group is presenting the exhibition Root Scene in London from Wednesday to Saturday. The show will present various art forms to highlight connections between China and the United Kingdom. Works from11 contemporary Chinese artists, including He Jinwei, Guo Jin and Zhong Biao, are featured. Root Scene is showing at the China Exchange at 32A Gerrard Street.
Jiangsu seeks overseas talent
The Jiangsu Overseas Talent Fair and Project Conference for the Finance Industry will take place at the Guildhall on Gresham Street in London on Friday. The event, which is hosted by Jiangsu's provincial government, will later run in the United States and Hong Kong. Organizers hope to recruit overseas talent for the province's finance sector. Jiangsu ranks first in the nation for GDP per capita and tops the Development Life Index.
Terracotta Warriors inspire exhibition
The touring sculpture exhibition Dialogue with Emperor Qin's Warriors will arrive at Here East in London's Olympic Park on Oct 10. The show features works by 28 European and three Chinese artists. It debuted at the Shaanxi Art Museum in Xi'an in January 2012. It has since been staged at eight Chinese and five European museums.
Chinese operas get London showing
The China National Peking Opera Company, featuring celebrated performers Yu Kuizhi and Li Shengsu, is presenting The General and the Prime Minister and The Legend of the White Snake over three days at The Peacock in London. The General and the Prime Minister is based on historical accounts of the Warring States Period(475-221 BC) and is full of drama and entertainment. It will be staged on Oct 13 and Oct 15. The Legend of the White Snake is a famous folktale. It can be seen on Oct 14 and Oct 15. The Peacock is on the capital's Portugal Street.
