Japanese leaders should think about working together with China to revitalize the Asian economy instead of being concerned about things that have nothing to do with Japan, Foreign Minister Wang Yi told a news conference in Beijing on Thursday.
Wang was responding to a question about how can Japan and China - the chair of G7 and G20 respectively this year - reduce differences and work together to help Asia get out of economic difficulties.
Yes indeed, China and Japan are two major economies, and they account for the most of Asia's GDP, Wang said.
"If Japan does focus the G7 summit on the development issue that concerns the world, in particular the regional countries, coordinates with the G20 and cooperates with China, we can join hands in boosting the revitalization of the Asian economy. I believe this is what all Asian countries want," Wang said.
The Foreign Minister added that the reporter's advice "could be heard and be listened to by the Japanese leaders, make them think and undertake efforts in this direction instead of pounding on some unrelated matters that have nothing to do with the country itself or matters that other countries do not expect".
