Maintaining peace and tranquillity in the border region will not only benefit the 2.5 billion people of the two countries, but also contribute to regional and global development, Premier Li Keqiang said on Thursday while meeting with Rajnath Singh, home minister of India, at Zhongnanhai in Beijing.
China and India are the two largest developing countries in the world, and the neighbors have maintained frequent high-level communications and provided opportunities for each other, Premier Li said.
The Premier pointed out that the Chinese economy is operating in a proper range. China is proactively pushing forward structural reform and trying to keep steady economic growth to achieve long-term, sustainable and healthy development.
China will expand openness, create a good business environment, protect intellectual property and become an attractive destination for investment, the Premier said, adding that the government welcomes Indian investors, and hopes that India could provide more convenience for Chinese companies.
The Premier said the world is facing both traditional and unusual security challenges, and the terrorist situation has become increasingly complicated.
Chinese government supports the law enforcement departments of both sides to cooperate with the international community to fight terrorism and international criminals, maintain social security and contribute to world peace and stability, the Premier said.
Singh said India and China are playing important roles in global affairs as two large developing nations and bilateral ties have been improved greatly in recent years.
India would like to enhance cooperation and exchanges with China in law-enforcement areas including anti-terrorist activities and fighting international criminals, he said.
The two sides should handle disagreements through dialogue and negotiation, to maintain peace he said, adding that bilateral ties will be improved through the joint efforts made by both sides.
State Councilor Guo Shengkun also attended the meeting.
