Vice-President Li Yuanchao will "inject new impetus" into China-India relations with his coming visit to India, Foreign Ministry spokesman Lu Kang said at a news conference on Friday.

The visit will be another "significant interaction" between China and India this year, Lu said. The vice-president will hold talks with Mohammad Hamid Ansari, vice-president of India, and meet with other leaders.

Li will "continue to push forward and implement the consensus" reached with Indian leaders by President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Keqiang, to enhance mutual friendship and deepen cooperation, which will give more vitality to relations, Lu said.

He added that bilateral relations have developed in a healthy and stable way in recent years and China views ties with India from a strategic and long-term angle, taking India's development as an opportunity.

China is willing to work with India to implement the consensus reached by both nations' leaders and push for progress in their strategic cooperative partnership, Lu said.
