WASHINGTON - Passengers were forced to evacuate a Dynamic Airways Boeing 767 Thursday after the plane caught fire on the tarmac at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport in the state of Florida, said local media reports.
The Boeing 767 passenger jet appeared to be taxiing for departure when its left engine caught fire. The fire was quickly put out, said the local TV station WSVN-TV, citing a spokesman from the airport as saying.
The pilot of the plane reported fuel leak before the fire started, according to CNN, which quoted a Federal Aviation Administration official as saying.
Reports said that passengers had so far evacuated through slides onto the taxiway. There were several injuries.
Founded in 2010, Dynamic Airways is a small privately owned airline that offers service from airports in places such as New York, Florida, Venezuela, Hong Kong and Palau.
