WASHINGTON - US President Barack Obama is going to travel to Turkey for a G20 summit, followed by visits to the Philippines and Malaysia for several summits next month, the White House said Monday.

Obama will spur international efforts to ensure strong, sustainable and balanced global economic growth during the talks, White House press secretary Josh Earnest said in a statement.

"In the Philippines, he will participate in the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit, and in Malaysia he will participate in the US-ASEAN summit and the East Asia summit," the statement said.

The visits to the Philippines and Malaysia underscore America's support for Asia's regional institutions, which enhance security and prosperity, while also advancing the US strategy to re-balance to the Asia-Pacific region in all of its dimensions, Earnest said. "These visits also will support the president's efforts to expand opportunities for American businesses and workers to sell their products in some of the world's fastest-growing markets."

During his travel abroad on Nov 14-22, Obama will also emphasize the importance of reaching an ambitious and durable global climate change agreement in Paris, said the White House.
