KABUL - At least 12 people were killed in the US C-130 transport plane crash at a local airport in Afghanistan 's Jalalabad overnight and the Taliban militants claimed responsibility for it on Friday.
"The C-130 American plane crashed at the Jalalabad airport at around midnight Thursday, leaving the causalities," a local source told Xinhua anonymously.
Five US military soldiers were among the killed, according to the sources.
Details about the incident were unknown now.
"There is no new information about the incident yet," a coalition spokesman, Toney Wickman, told Xinhua, adding more information would be released later.
However, the Taliban said on Twitter" Our Mujahideen have shot down a four-engine US aircraft in jalalabad."
