Australian April Fool's Day pranks fool thousands

SYDNEY - Australian media was filled with all sorts of strange stories on Wednesday, April Fool's Day, the annual day for pranks.

Some were clearly jokes, others far more believable.

Google Australia posted a blog claiming the equator is slipping, meaning Australia will be in the Northern Hemisphere by 2055.

It was one of more than a dozen pranks world-wide that the search engine posted.

Honda announced on its YouTube channel that it was releasing a new car featuring 10 selfie cameras.

A Sydney tourist aquarium offered new tours for cats where they could prowl along a specially built platform and view the fish through glass.

Samsung announced a smart-knife Galaxy BLADE which features a set of sensors and algorithms that analyze your grip, dexterity and strength, setting the weight in optimal proportion to create the perfect rhythm and inertia.

"This smart feature, in league with the super sharp edge, makes chopping and cutting up to 50 percent faster than with conventional knives," Samsung announced.

It also has a special feature for slicing fruit and dicing vegetables."

An Australian airline announced that when people transport pets when they fly, the pets will earn the owners frequent flyer points.

This was reported as seriopus story on many radio stations, alocal website tracking the pranks reported.

And a dating site announced a new app feature where lonely people planning on having a meal could find someone on-line who likes the same restaurants and cuisines they do.

They would also match up other personal details, but not actually meet.

It would work well for night shift workers, as they could have a virtual dinner date, maybe even over Skype.
