Argentine President Cristina Fernandez was born into an ordinary family in Buenos Aires. She became first lady in 2003 when her husband Nestor Kirchner was elected president. She took over her husband's position in 2007 and became the first elected female president. Her husband died of heart attack on October 27, 2010. She won a second term a year later on October 23.
