PHNOM PENH - Typhoon Krosa (crane), which has weakened to a tropical storm and depression, hit Cambodia Wednesday night, killing three people and destroying 79 wooden houses, a disaster control official said Thursday.
Keo Vy, spokesman for the National Committee for Disaster Management, said all the victims were in northern Kampong Chhnang province.
"Two fishermen died as their boat capsized due to the storm with heavy rain and an old man died as his house was hit by the storm," he told Xinhua.
Cambodia has been suffering from the impact of Typhoon Krosa, which had battered northern part of the Philippines over the weekend and killed at least three people.
The Cambodian Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology warned Saturday that the typhoon's impact has caused moderate-to- heavy rainfall in 10 out of the kingdom's 24 cities and provinces.
