RAMALLAH - US Secretary of State John Kerry briefed Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas on his plan to restart peace talks between the Palestinians and Israel, a Palestinian official said Wednesday.

Kerry's plan envisages political, security and economical progress, with security and border issues topping its agenda, according to the official, who spoke on the condition of anonymity.

Kerry informed Abbas about his plan during a meeting last night in Amman, Jordan, on the sidelines of Kerry's sixth trip to the Middle East as U.S. secretary of state.

The last direct negotiations between the two sides were held in 2010, before the Palestinians walk out in protest at Israel's settlement activities.

The official added that the Palestinian Liberation Organization 's Executive Committee will meet Thursday to discuss the response to the plan.
