BAGHDAD - At least 12 people were killed and 56 others wounded in separate bomb attacks against cafes in Iraq on Thursday, the police said.

The back-to-back bomb attacks struck a coffee shop in Baquba, capital of Diyala province in eastern Iraq, killing at least 10 people and wounding 30 others, a police source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.

Meanwhile, two were killed and 14 others injured in a bomb attack inside a coffee shop in the Adamiya district in northern Baghdad, the source said, adding that 12 people were wounded when a roadside bomb exploded near a coffee shop in the Alforat district, southwest of the Iraqi capital.

No group has so far claimed responsibility for the attacks, but the al-Qaida front in Iraq, in most cases, was responsible for such bombings in the country.

High-profile bomb attacks are still common in Iraq despite the dramatic decrease since its peak in 2006 and 2007, when the country was engulfed in sectarian killings.
