PYONGYANG - The Democratic People's Republic of Korea said Friday that it would take grave measures should South Korea aggravate the situation on the Kaesong joint industrial zone issue.

The DPRK's National Defence Commission made the warning in a statement carried by the official KCNA new agency that rejected a call by the Republic of Korea for official talks on resuming operations at Kaesong.

On Thursday, the ROK's government formally proposed to hold substantive bilateral dialogues on the Kaesong issue, and asked the DPRK to reply by Friday noon.
