BEIJING - The chairman of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff Martin Dempsey visited Chinese army aviation forces and the University of National Defense here on Wednesday.
The senior U.S. military officer watched a performance of gunships and exchanged views with Chinese military instructors and trainees, according to the Chinese military.
Following the visits, Dempsey gave a press briefing to reporters. He said that his conversations with the Chinese side were "dynamic."
Dempsey said he would like to believe that his first trip to China has contributed to greater understanding, but added that there are still some things the two sides have to continue to work on over time.
Dempsey arrived in Beijing on Sunday for a five-day visit. President Xi Jinping and other government and military leaders exchanged views with Dempsey on bilateral ties and other issues of common concern.
