ROK passenger jet makes emergency landing in Japan

TOKYO - A passenger plane operated by the South Korean airline Korean Air made an emergency landing late Sunday at Japan's Narita international airport, and no reports of injuries are immediately available.
The incident took place at around 10:05 pm local time as smoke was detected in the cockpit of the Korean Air Flight 11, which left South Korea's Incheon airport in Seoul for US Los Angeles, according to Japan's Kyodo News Agency.
About 288 people, including crew members, were on board when the accident occurred, said Japan's broadcaster NHK.
Investigation was carried out after the plane landed at the airport, said Kyodo.
