BEIJING - A spokesman for China's Foreign Ministry on Tuesday called on all related parties in Syria to open a political dialogue soon, in order to come to a mutually acceptable transition plan.
Spokesman Hong Lei made the remarks at a daily news briefing, noting that China has always considered a political solution as the only practical way out for Syria.
Hong's comments came after Syria's opposition coalition elected Ghats Ditto as prime minister of the interim government on Tuesday.
"With a highly responsible attitude, all relevant sides should follow the consensus of the Action Group Geneva Communique for finally settling the issue peacefully, justly and appropriately," Hong said.
