KINSHASA - An airplane, a Fokker with the African Aviation Company (CAA), a private Congolese airline, crashed in Gome, the provincial capital of North Kivu in the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo on Monday afternoon, with no survivors found, an official said.

No survivors have been found in the wreckage of the CAA airliner in Goma, said the governor of North Kivu, Julien Paluku.

The plane, with more than 30 people on board, was coming from the central town of Lodja and crashed at 17:30 local time in a residential area near the airport of Goma.

According to Paluku, the bad weather could be the cause of the crash of the aircraft.

The landing was poorly started after a heavy rain in the city. The plane was dropped on a house and then destroyed completely, said witnesses.
