NEW YORK - An earthquake measuring 7.0 on the Richter scale jolted Santa Cruz Islands at 01:54:15 GMT on Wednesday, the US Geological Survey said.

The epicenter, with a depth of 9.80 km, was initially determined to be at 10.4786 degrees south latitude and 165.7721 degrees east longitude.
